Respect, Inclusion, and Work Attitude

Respect, Inclusion, and Work Attitude

In this segment, human resource-related questions from the team will be addressed by John Ngatia, our Head of HR.

1. Which HR policies foster an environment of respect and inclusion among the employees?

As shared during my interactions with staff, the HR department is collectively owned by all those that are part of the organization.

This guarantees that all team members appreciate and are respectful to each other while at the same time ensuring that all policies being channeled out by the HR department take into account the views, input, and individuality of each employee.

2. What kind of disciplinary action would be taken against an employee with a poor work attitude and morale?

· Except in cases of gross misconduct, disciplinary action should always be the last recourse in handling work-related concerns.

There could be a myriad of issues that can impact one’s attitude or morale at work. Before starting a formal process, the same should be discussed informally. Informal conversations with an employee, for instance, whose punctuality may be raising concerns, could be all that is required to make them aware that their tardiness has been noted and is not acceptable, or, simply put, quiet words and a reminder of our standards may well be enough.

· However, if one continuously presents repeated or serious misconduct issues, then the disciplinary procedure set out in the policies will be applied.

The above questions were shared by some of our team members. Feel free to share questions that you’d love featured or addressed in this new blog section with John Ngatia or the communication team.
