4 Tips to Find Your Voice in Workplace Meetings

Voicing Your Ideas or speaking at work meetings for some might feel like a walk in the park, though for some being able to share the value or voice their contribution might be hard. Sharing ideas, engaging, and interacting in work meetings get you noticed not only by your managers but your fellow team members.

If you are in the meeting, there’s a reason; it could be the need for your professional expertise and input or just the contribution from your experience. At the end of it, your voice will get you heard as an individual.

Here are tips ways to get your Voice In Workplace Meetings;

1.Be confident. Be bold during workplace meetings.

Don’t be anxious. Be self-aware enough to know how you can handle a large setting or a workplace meeting, and still be proactive and intentional with your communication.

Believe in your skills and value.

2. Prepare, Write Down, and Present.

In cases of pre-planned workplace meetings with already set agendas, be prepared. Research on the Work Topic. Write down and organize your notes or presentation. Make it detailed. Finally, act it out, you could work on your flow of points by reading them out loud before the meeting, or you present them to another teammate to boost your confidence.

3. Be Inquisitive in The Meeting.

Listen in and take notes from the workplace meetings. Have follow-up questions or general questions. Similarly, if the meeting was pre-planned, do research on the Agenda of the day or Topic and note down which questions you’d ask during the meeting.

4. Language and Tone.

Once you get your points in, how you present them matters. This is mostly your verbal language, tone, body gestures, and facial expression.

For tone and verbal language, you need to be vocal. Don’t whisper. Speak out. Be direct and concise.

For the facial expressions and body gestures, your body reveals the true story behind your words.
